Here is what the AI revolution is doing:
- It’s harming employees who value their creativity and talent.
- It’s being used as an excuse to cut jobs in the name of “efficiency”.
- It’s being driven primarily by profit.
- It’s being used for control, surveillance and micromanagement.
- It’s consuming an enormous amount of electricity.
- It’s being used to provide “companionship”, replacing real relationships.
- It’s having a negative social effect on people.
- It’s only providing the illusion of thought, as it can’t actually think for itself.
- It’s not always accurate.
- It’s helping to create mental dependency on machines. We already use a lot of machines.
Why go as far as outsourcing our minds to them? - It’s discriminating against people, e.g. by arbitrarily filtering out job applications.
Can you think of any more?
