I asked Google a question earlier today: “What is a prompt monkey?” The AI Overview returned nothing:

At the time I wrote the question, Google had some catching up to do. It has since updated itself so will now generate an answer.
The concept of a “Prompt Monkey” exists, although its use appears to be limited at present (maybe this site will help to propagate it in the public sphere). There is already a YouTube channel which has adopted the term, along with an associated website which is apparently going live soon.
Another website has a blog post which is broadly in line with the thinking on this site (just search for “Planet of the Prompt Monkeys”), although the author admits to using ChatGPT to help with his article.
Funnily enough, ChatGPT came up with the following answer to my question:

I’d go one step further: “A prompt monkey is someone who spends a lot of time writing prompts, rather than doing the work themselves”.
It’s not very surprising that the bot wouldn’t go that far. After all, the AI hype must be allowed to continue.
